Film Workshop med Cauleen Smith

Cinemateket og Astrup Fearnley Museet inviterer unge filmskapere til en workshop med den amerikanske kunstneren Cauleen Smith, i forbindelse med hennes utstilling The Deep West Assembly. Smith er internasjonalt kjent for sine visjonære verk med utgangspunkt i eksperimentell film fra 1960- og 70-tallet, science fiction-sjangeren i film og litteratur, samt den afrikanske diasporaens erfaringer og anskuelser. Et program med filmene hennes blir vist for første gang i Norge på Cinemateket i september. Under workshopen får alle deltakere anledning til å vise egenprodusert film på maksimum 30 minutter. Filmene vises i plenum med påfølgende samtaler, med råd, innspill og tilbakemeldinger. Filmen bør ikke være ferdig, men i prosess. Studenter og kunstnere i etableringsfasen som arbeider med film som medium, oppfordres til å delta.

Workshopen holdes på Cinemateket. Deltakelse er gratis, men påmelding er nødvendig på grunn av svært begrensede plasser. Det blir servert lunsj.

Film Workshop with Cauleen Smith

Cinemateket and the Astrup Fearnley Museet invite young filmmakers to a workshop with Los Angeles based artist Cauleen Smith, in connection with her exhibition The Deep West Assembly. Smith is internationally known for her visionary works drawing upon experimental film making from the 1960s and 1970s, the genre of science fiction, developments in the geosciences, as well as African and African diaspora thought and experience. A program featuring her films will be shown for the first time in Norway at Cinemateket in September. During the workshop, all participants will have the opportunity to showcase their self-produced films, up to a maximum of 30 minutes. The films will be screened in a plenary session followed by discussions, with advice, feedback, and input from the artist and other participants. The film should be in progress. Students and emerging artists working with film as a medium are encouraged to participate.

The workshop will be held at Cinemateket. Participation is free, but places are very limited and sign up is needed. Lunch will be served.
